This is a very enjoyable read. The prose is fluid. The book is entertaining and presents some realistic difficult choices teens are faced with. Ruby makes some good choices, some not so good but overall the book encourages making positive choices in life. Some of the situations Ruby faces involve choices about loyalty to your own goals, to your friends, honesty to yourself and others, being supportive, drinking, drugs, sex, and making judgements about others.

This is the author's first foray into YA novels, so if you are familiar with her other books, be aware that this is written for a slightly younger audience.
