Fiction
Midnight in Madrid

Zondervan
trade paperback
$14.99 USD
ISBN 978-0-310-27872-6

Alex LaDuca must cut her holiday short to handle an art theft investigation/recovery in Spain. Nothing is simple however and she soon finds herself working with mysterious agents from other countries to track down both the missing Pieta and a terrorist group's target. This is the second book in the Russian Trilogy. Very engaging and could also read stand alone since it does comprise a complete story on its own.

YA fiction

Couldn't put it down. Stayed up way too late reading it. It was worth the lost sleep though. Bella finds herself in several 'sticky' situations and works out some of the problems her new stepfamily has surrounded her with. In spite of the pressures on her to stop her investigative reporting for the school paper, and conflicts between the lifestyle she used to have and her new lifestyle, choices about friendship and dating, Bella is persistant.

Ruby Unscripted by Cindy Martinusen-Coloma

Available May 2009

Thomas Nelson
$12.99 Tradepaperback

This is a very enjoyable read. The prose is fluid. The book is entertaining and presents some realistic difficult choices teens are faced with. Ruby makes some good choices, some not so good but overall the book encourages making positive choices in life. Some of the situations Ruby faces involve choices about loyalty to your own goals, to your friends, honesty to yourself and others, being supportive, drinking, drugs, sex, and making judgements about others.

This is the author's first foray into YA novels, so if you are familiar with her other books, be aware that this is written for a slightly younger audience.
